Adjusting TA...

So I have my CYA at 40ish and my FC at the appropriate level. My TA is 210 and I want to get it down a bit. pH was 7.6 so I added nearly 1 Gallo of muriatic acid to drop the pH which worked like a charm. pH is now 7.0. So to aerate and raise pH is it as easy as pointing my returns up and letting the water run? I also have my slide running as well. Neighbors probably think I am weird. Anyways is that it? Now I wait? Just curious as to how long I should let it run? Or is it more just keeping an eye on it with an occasional test? Thanks very much!

There are two many variables to predict how long it will take.

What's the big hurry, anyway? It's going to take the same amount of acid to remove X amount of TA no matter whether it takes you two days or two months.

It's very explicit in Pool School: You shouldn't lower TA just to reach a target number.

If you just check pH every day or two and lower it to 7.2 whenever it gets to 7.8, the TA will come down over time and the pool will stay swimmable the whole time.

If your calcium hardness is super high and you're getting scale, then there's some reason to get the TA down faster than slower.

As long as the calcium is not really high, there's no reason to rush.
