Adding Cyanuric Acid and Muriatic Acid

Hi Everyone,

I just put in 800g of Cyanuric Acid to raise my CYA. Its going to take a day or so to dissolve in the sock. During this time can I add Muriatic Acid, I plan to do it later today but the CA will not have dissolved by then.

CYA is a mild acid. 28 oz of stabilizer in your 6,500 gallon pool will raise CYA by 32 and lower pH by 0.6.

I would wait and check your pH after the stabilizer is dissolved before doing further pH adjustments with MA.

OK TY, how long should I wait, 24hrs? My PH was 8.2 hence the muratic acid

The CYA should lower your pH to 7.6 - 7.8.

No reason to rush lowering your pH in a vinyl pool. Be patient.

How long to wait depends on how you are dissolving the CYA. Is your pump running 24 hours a day?

I woudl wait at least 48 hours.
