Adding Acid after passing overnight fc test

Hi TFP,

My pool passed the overnight chlorine test this morning and I now have a pool with 12 FC. I know that the PH test is inaccurate with high chlorine levels but I'm certain the PH is high and I don't want to have calcium buildup as a result. Should I just dump some acid now or should I wait for the FC level to drop before adding acid (clearly it might take several days before FC is around 3ish)?

You only need the FC to drop below 10 before testing PH. If it’s sunny out the UV should burn off 2-3 ppm by today or tomorrow. I would wait to test PH and add the recommended amount to lower it.

Thank you that's exactly what I needed to know. I guess I could add a little acid now just because I know it needs some without doing any acid testing, correct?

We do not recommend adding any chemical without appropriate testing.
