Adding a solar panel

Hi everyone. I have an Intex 18'x52" ultra set pool. I've had it for 2 years and have decided to add a solar panel. My shed that I'm putting it on is 20' away and 8' feet high.The panel I'm ordering is 4'x10'. I have the sf80110 sand filter (1600gph) and swg. I was wondering if that pump would be strong enough to add the panel to and if it is should I put the T between the filter and swg and the other after the swg?

The solar panel needs to be after the filter and before the SWG.

Ok cool. So both inlet and outlet between filter and swg thanks. Do you think the pump I have will be enough for the 8' high shed?

Not sure. Those are pretty weak. You could extend a pipe up 8+ feet and see if the pump can get the water high enough. Otherwise maybe get a 3/4 or 1hp 2 speed pump.

We have the same square footage of panels (2 - 2 x 10) and we pump through ours separately from the filter system with a 1/4hp submersible pump. It pumps up the 8-10ft on our shed no problem.
We only use a separate pump because we also have solar panels for power on the shed as well and we can run the submersible off the solar... our power solar panel are not big enough to run the pool pump (1hp).
So we run the pool pump at night when it is cheaper, and the solar system during the day.... but it's free.

@Tmurphy What brand/model pump do you have that runs off the solars? Also what is the total wattage of the solar cells? This sounds like a neat add-on.

We have two 64 watt panels hooked up to a 1000w inverter and charge controller.
They charge 4 deep cycle batteries that we keep in the shed.
When we had a smaller pool with a smaller pump, the pool pump ran off them as well.
When we upgraded to the steel wall above ground the pump was too big.

The submersible pump is just a $50 .. 1/4 hp .... ok well it was $50 when we bought it... we had it, so we used it.

Gotcha. I wasn't sure if you happened to have a 12v DC pump or ran through an inverter. Very cool either way[emoji41]
