Is it a major project to add a pool slide to an existing inground gunite pool with concrete decking?

The slides I have seen on here have the water supplied by the pump and is usually a connection up through the decking to the slide. I think that would be challenging even if you had a return you could use nearby.
Maybe there are other options for retrofitting that use something like a garden hose or maybe a drop-in pump that would feed the slide.

Is there a way to temporarily connect it to a return while it is being used, then disconnect it?
