Added chlorine before Cya was disolved.

How badly have I messed up? We have one of those cheap pools from Walmart, about 10,000 gallons. Put some cyranic acid in skimmer and, about an hour later, I shocked it with a gallon of chlorine. Now the water is bubbling come out of the filter. Is there anyway to fix this? Should I try to back wash the cya out of the filter? (Have and Intex sand filter.) Or can I just go to bed?

I should have said that there are air bubbles coming out of the return valve, not just water bubbling. I was worried the ongoing chemical reaction would build up pressure in the filter tank itself, but the pressure gauge held steady so I just went to bed. I did scour TFP when we first got one of these Walmart pools. The pool is 22' by 52". If completely filled., it would be 12,000 gallons. But I don't usually fill it all the way up, so maybe 10,000. The Intex sand filter is rated for up to 17,000 gallons and has seemed to work well. This is the third year with that sand filter. Thanks for your reply!

If air is coming out of the returns, it is being pulled in on the suction side of the pump. Check all gaskets, orings, etc and use Pool Lube - Further Reading on them. Also check the water level of the pool and if you have a skimmer that the weir door is free to move.
