Add CYA or no

Opened my pool this weekend and started a slam.
CYA was 0 and Pool math recommended I add 53 oz.
I only had 20 oz here so I went ahead and added. Picked up some more CYA today.
Should I assume everything is accurate and add 23 more oz? Or should I continue my slam assuming 30 (which is where 20oz should have me) and continue my Slam and test CYA when I am done?

Note: I am using Cal Hypo for my Slam. I cannot find any liquid chlorine.

I don’t see any reason to add extra now. It just means that you will have to use even more chlorine for your SLAM. You can go ahead and add the rest after your SLAM is finished.

However, I would suggest testing the CYA again to make sure that it really is at 30. But wait at least 24 hours after the CYA finished dissolving to test.

Checked Lowes near you. One in W Winston claims they have 32 gallons of Pool Essentials Liquid chlorine in stock -----
