Acid cleaning stand for Circupool RJ45+

I have an RJ 45+ that is probably 3.5 years old (not sure when I bought it). I've never acid washed it because I could see the fins and they never had any buildup. Now the clean cell and low salt lights come on shortly after startup. I see chlorine being generated before this happens. I see some dirty stuff on the fins (not significantly blocking flow), but it looks brown like algae and not the crusty white calcium buildup.

I'd like to try acid washing but can't find a generic stand on Amazon that says it's compatible. Does anyone have one for which they can confirm the threads work with Circupool RJ45+? Or can anyone tell me if the threads would be the same as other brands like intellichlor or Hayward? I found out the hard way that unions sold at Lowes and Home Depot often have incompatible orifice size or thread pitch.

Thanks for your help!

Your last option is to acid wash a SWG cell with muriatic acid.

  • First attempt to dislodge the buildup with a strong spray of water from the garden hose.
  • Then use something wooden or plastic - not anything metal or that could scratch the plates - to remove the buildup. I use the drain snake I got for $2 from HD that removes hair from a sink trap.
  • After that, you can use diluted vinegar (it's a mild acid) to dissolve any remaining buildup.
Moving forward, keep your CSI in the 0.00 to -0.30 (negative 0.30) range to minimize scaling in the SWG cell.
Use PoolMath and be sure your SWG is entered along with tracking CC and CSI.

Post a full set of current test results from one of the recommended test kits.

Not sure if you are looking specifically for a non-Circupool one.
