Correct me if I am wrong, If the spa uses the setup you suggested in the diagram with 3" plumbing then it would not be restricted by a heater and would perform slightly better than it would with 2" plumbing. The jets would still pose an issue.

My apologies for not being clearer. In short, I would like your opinion, when combining the information provided in the video, with 3" plumbing and your suggested set up, if given the following two options, which way would you lean?
Option 1: Operate spa with separate 1.85 Hp pump with your set up
Option 2: Use a single 2.7 Hp pump to run pool, spa and waterfalls

My opinion is for the small increase in cost relative to what your pool will cost you should get 2.7 HP pumps.

If the pumps are too powerful you can turn them down and they will be quieter.

If you get smaller pumps and you don’t have enough flow at max RPM you are left complaining about your noisy pumps.

You cannot easily fix pumps or pipes that are too small. Over design is preferable to under design.
