Aack.. dropped rock in skimmer

I think I'll get a bigger rock AND change the hairnet in the evening after the pump has turned off for the day. OR turn off the pump. Great advice.
Also consider putting the rock in the bottom of the skimmer basket and the hairnet over the top of the basket (that's what we do). The rock stays in the basket when pulling the hairnet off the top of the basket.

I recommend putting a grate in all skimmer holes to prevent this type of mishap.

If the skimmer hole is 2", you can use a 2" x 1.5" threaded reducer bushing.

I can't find any 2" grates, but it is definitely something that would be useful.

Maybe get a display case to display the rock so that it is a cautionary tale for all those who see the rock.

Find a nice pedestal and get a spotlight to shine on the rock.

Maybe make a video that can play on a small nearby display when people press a button and they will hear the tale of the rock of doom and the happy ending.
