New Pool Construction Project in Houston: 2nd Time is a Charm

Today jay?

Yes. Today it is.

(I know, I know......like I always say: Pics or it didn't happen. Will post some when I can get to the computer that works with my camera.)

Friday is always a good day to get plastered. (They all are):handshake:

I like to paraphrase the famous early-drinking quote "It's 5:00 somewhere, right?" with "It's Friday somewhere, right?"

And so it begins....

They applied the plaster and aggregate very quickly

After application, squeeze out all of the "cream" to expose the aggregate

Getting near the end....

Here's the Trough-O-Waste. After the junk dries, they'll haul away the box and solid junk.

Here's a close-up of the plaster. This hasn't been fully prepped yet, but it should give an idea of what final product looks like.

Bonus Pic: While I was up on the waterfall, I shot a pic of my equipment pad. It looks like they gave me lots of space for maintenance and repairs!

Plaster crew is gone. They showed up at 8:00 and the trucks pulled out before noon. Now that's efficiency.

Before departure, the crew chief said "we'll be back tomorrow for acid rinse". I figured we would start filling today. I guess we'll have to wait until tomorrow. I'm probably happy about this, since the plaster threads talk about keeping a gap between plaster completion and exposure to water.

For those of you not to this stage yet: This is the fun part for sure!

When we filled ours the past couple of days, the kids kept checking the pool. Little did they know, it took 36 hours with 2 hoses and the auto leveler line (for a little while). When all 3 were running, we had very little water pressure left in the house. Even the hose bibs were leaking because there wasn't enough pressure. The kids ended up getting bored after the first 2 hours, but were happy to see it full this morning.

I LOVE the color!

Thanks, Kim.

When we were choosing a plaster/pebble color, we decided to focus on the particular color the plaster makes the water appear, since this is a bigger visual impact than the up-close plaster look. With our "tropical volcano rock" theme, we wanted the water to appear a bit greenish-blue. Based on one of the model pools at our PB's shop, we chose the "Midnight Ocean" color. Here is a pic from the Wet Edge Technologies website that illustrates the color that (I hope!) our water will look like.
