New Pool Construction Project in Houston: 2nd Time is a Charm

Oh yeah....back to the pool.

Pool....almost....filled.....to.....the.....skimmers.....and Lucia the Labrador is checking things out. I wonder what's going through her mind. What's going through my mind is easy: "Dang, that's some clear water. Good thing I know all about TFP so I can keep it looking that way!"

I love your water color! When your equipment is turned on, your dog will be even more interested. Our yorkie wants to attach the bubblers every time they run, but our golden is actually afraid of the water.

When I got home from work this afternoon, I found that my PB had spent several hours at the house making final electrical hookups, installing the ICS heads, and finishing the sundry list of other final items. Here's my view as I came into the side yard. The water is already pretty clear, and my PB said to expect even more clarity after the filter runs for awhile. Due to windy afternoon and low-angle December sun, the picture didn't turn out as good as it looks in real life. You'll just have to trust me on that.

I'm sure you're all dying to ask :testresults: Drumroll please.... :testkit:

Fill Water
pH = 7.8
CYA = N/A
Chlorine Free = 0
CC = N/A
TA = 240ppm
CH = 100-125ppm*
Pool Water
pH = 7.0
CYA = N/A
Chlorine Free = 0
CC = N/A
TA = 180 ppm
CH = 75ppm

Is it common for pool CH and TA to be a bit lower than my fill CH and TA? Clearly I need to get my pH up a bit, but I'm sure the continued use of my water features will take care of that in a hurry. My salt system won't be started up for several weeks, and there was nary a puck of trichlor to be found. I assume that my PB will add some oxidizing agent (and the associated stabilizer) soon. According to control panel, water temp is 67.

*DISCLAIMER: I was adding drops too fast, and the color changed quickly. In my best Clint Eastwood voice: I know what you're thinking. Did I make 4 drops....or was it only 5? In all the confusion, I kinda forgot myself. You've got to ask yourself one question. Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya punk? I know, I know...either way, it's too low.

Looks fantastic. Have you started brushing yet? Do one at night, with your lights turned on, that will show you pretty quickly if you still have alot of plaster dust floating around.

Tried it last night. Not a spec of plaster dust could be seen. On the day after plaster, the plaster crew came back and rinsed the whole surface with acid and then powerwashed everything.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.....but after acid and high pressure water, I wouldn't expect there to be much dust left.

That is great. The power wash must have helped quite a bit. Did they pump out the residual water after the power wash? My PB did the acid rinse and hose wash down, but left the nasty stuff in the bottom when they started filling.

They pumped everything out. Then rinsed pool and pumped out again. Top-notch install all the way, as far as I can tell.

In all honesty, I would have preferred the bicarb startup, but PB wouldn't honor warranty if we did it that way.

That's very impressive stuff right there. We had no wash down or acid wash of any kind. I think I found a few wrappers and pair of jeans or something floating in our water after they filled up. As soon as the plaster company stepped outta there with their special shoes, they threw in the water hoses and took off.

Top notch PB you have there....show off.

Wow! what a beautiful house, I am glad I have asked about your house. I like the water color too. Matching different things to complement each other requires some artistic skill, no doubt your wife has proved a point.

I am an engineer too I built my house my self, Design, Implementation and interior decoration all done by my self. Did I forget to mention that I am a software engineer?? Ha! Ha! That's how it works here in India at times.
