skimmer not covered by winter cover any suggestions?

I have an in ground pool and it has an auto cover. My pool has 2 skimmers but the cover only goes over 1 of the skimmers. the other skimmer is on the outside of the cover. does anybody have any ideas on what I could do to keep the exposed skimmer covered during the winter?
