Yes im gonna test TA (Im still using HTH test kit from walmart, TF 100 arrives friday)

Yes. If the test kit reads zero chlorine, enter zero in the now column.
Since you can't test TA, just plug 100 in and 100 target on TA. It's used to calculate the borax dose.

It means I screwed up by not reading the entire string of posts and initially posted a reply to a very early post that had already been answered.
Always add drops until the last one does not change the color any more, and don't count that drop.

I bought all but borax, but I had from before this product: Kem Tek PH PLus (sodium carbonate 100%). Is the same thing?Or should I run to the store for borax?

For today, use poolmath to adjust the pH and raise the FC. I get 1.5 measuring cups of bleach and 1/2 cup of the Kem Tek PH PLus.
Letting someone else dictate what to add is the same as going to the pool store. You need to learn to figure this stuff out for yourself. You can do it. You figured out how to fill out the signature and upload pictures - pool chemistry is waaay easier than that!

Without you I think Im going to change the pool water every 2 weeks. But I like it and I want to learn to do it right
The ph plus is powder, I add 1/2 with the sock like the Cya?
And after 30 min 1 and 1/2 cup of bleach and that it?

Soda ash is best added by pre-dissolving it in a bucket of water and then pouring that slowly in front of a return.
You're done with the sock unless you need to raise CYA later in the season to replace splashout.
Ok, I just did it. I did like you told me. Even I mixes all in a bucket was a few 1/2 inch white rocks.
So the filter is running. 30 minutes and I test again or add the bleach without testing.

I just added the 1 1/2 cup of bleach and after 30 minutes I tested and I have
PH 7,6 -7,7
Chlorine 5-10. Really high.
Is ok right?
Tomorrow Im gonna have 0 chlorine again. So if nothing else happens im gonna post my new results tomorrow evening.

per PoolMath - you should be 2-6 FC. Higher is ok until you get to shock levels, at this point when FC= 12 or more, then you should not let anyone into the pool until its below shock level.
Use PoolMath - play with numbers and see how things affect each other. Really simple to use
You can / should cover the pool whenever you are not using it, to protect the water from losing more chlorine.
Except he's not performing the SLAM process and he's crippled by an inadequate test kit waiting for the good one to arrive. The target was 5 and the tester says 5-10, so everything is just fine.

Hi, I tested the water and the result is
PH 7,6
Chlorine 2 (between 2 and 3)
Let me see if Im wrong: I must only add 7,2 oz of 8,25 bleach to Target 5? Is that right?
