I need to replace my old Doughboy sand filter. It holds 130 lbs of sand. Trying to figure out whether I should stick with sand, which I am familiar with, or try DE which I understand filters a bit better. It seems most of the sand filters I find on line use more sand than mine, 150 lbs seems to be the lightest. How do I figure out what size I need?
My equipment all lives under my deck which makes it difficult to work on equipment, which is another concern. There is only about 40" clearance. Most sand filters are a different configuration than the doughboy, which opens about a third of the way down.
I have a two speed 1 hp pump, my pool is 16x32 and holds about 15,000 gal.
I appreciate any input or advice on a new filter.
