Aerating will not lower TA, but it will raise pH. And since you can't accurately measure pH with FC above 10, you'll never know when or how much acid you need. So don't aerate intentionally.
Actually, ignore everything except FC during the SLAM process. You set pH before you start and that's it until you've passed the 3 tests:
1) Water is clear
2) CC is less than .5
3) Overnight loss is less than 1
Once the water is clear and sparkling, you can let the FC drift down below 10 and start adjusting pH again. TA is always the last thing to worry about
