Thanks again for all the help, everyone. I can confirm that water is flowing to the very end of the panel and back, I think I've found the sweet spot for the bypass and the pool temp has already increased 8 degrees. Panels are cool to the touch in full sun, with bypass setting between the two outputs as 'jblizzle' suggested. I am on day 2 of intial Dichlor setup and the kiddo is already asking when she can get in. Next step is to configure a pool vacuum. The pool store guy seems intrigued (and a little bummed) about the BBB method and I'm already thinking about the next (bigger) pool for when we move within the next year.
