5 year old tablets to increase CYA?

Bought a bucket of tablets and box of shock granule bags when we moved in, then realized our CYA was at 120 or higher, found TFP and they've been sitting in the garage ever since. After a 4-summer battle, our CYA is now around 30. Will these 5-year old tablets or granules work to raise CYA?
I've read differing onions on if they are good to up FC. I've had 4 tabs in a floater for a week and they don't seem to be adding anything to my FC, despite the fumes nearly knocking me out when I opened the bucket. woops.

If they were kept dry, they're still good.

Tablets dissolve pretty slow, so the sun may be getting the FC as fast as its being added. It's okay to add liquid bleach to the pool at the same time you have the floater in there. Just don't pour the bleach onto the floater.
