My Jandy VS Flopro is supposed to be here tomorrow. In preparing for installation, i realized that when i cut the pipe to remove the Whisperflow i will have to replace the part of the inlet pipe that contains a hose spigot as there is not enough room to glue in a coupler. I have never used this spigot before. What is the purpose for this spigot and can i just delete it ?

You can delete it if you like. Can be used to drain water, gather water sample, or hook a hose and sprayer to it and use as pool toy 
I am actually going to add one ... although not sure how much I will use it. Last pool had one that I never thought to use.
