40,000 gallon SWG in a 12,000 gallon pool?

I purchased a 40,000 gallon SWG for the pool at a house that I was moving into last year. It has been unopened so far.

After maintaining the pool since we moved in the pool is more like 12,000 gallons. I'm not sure how I ordered a chlorinator with probably three times the capacity I needed but the return window is long gone.

Will I have any problems if I just go ahead and install it?

Install it. I have a 40K SWCG for my 6K pool. Works great.
