I have a Sta-Rite System 3 DE filter that has a small crack in the upper half that is leaking. Is there something I can use to repair the crack until I can get it replaced?

Also, the pump is 15+ years old, and given the cost of replacement parts, would it be smarter to replace the filter altogether?

Since the filter is pressurized, it should not be repaired. At 15 years old, it would not be a bad idea to replace it if it is in poor condition and the new parts would be expensive. It really depends on the overall condition and the cost of the new parts.

What is it made of? You might be able to fiberglass the inside. Probably need to drill out the ends of the crack to keep it from spreading as well. But it's just a matter of time before the failure gets worse.
