You can look at this patent that describes some formulations. Basically, the main ingredient is a long-chained hydrocarbon with an alcohol end such as cetyl alcohol or stearyl alcohol (some products use a 50/50 mix of the two). The dispersing agent is probably isopropyl alcohol along with some calcium hydroxide that evaporate and dissolve, respectively.
The product does not work well at all in windy conditions and it obviously is not as good as a real solar cover.
