Pool Heater Gas Line Question

Is it normal / ok for the gas line elbows to rust?
I've had heater replaced and tech installed new, I assume, cast iron elbows as part of the gas feed. The previous elbows were not rusted so must have been a galvanised version. The new ones are covered in rust. Will it stay on the surface?

It's normal for some gas line to rust, you can paint it if you want it to look better.

yep...black pipe, and elbows and any other joints will rust quickly on the surface..other than your brass valves. It's normal and nothing to worry about...like Kevin said..if you don't like it...you can prime and paint it
