The water is still super cloudy.
FC is 14 (1 hr after adding bleach this am)
CC is 0.5
CYA = BDL (but adding to bring to 30)

We were not able to scrub in the last 24 hrs because we have had 5+ inches of rain in the form of storms all afternoon/night. Hoping to get a break in the weather to go outside to vacuum and scrub today.

Thoughts?

You gonna have to tell me what CYA = BDL means!

The CYA is Below the Detection Limit of the test.

It isn't registering, but it could be 0, 5, 10 for all we know. It can't be 0 because we've added 4lbs over the past 2 days.

how are you determining what your SLAM level of chlorine is?

don't want you to get frustrated when you think you are 2.5 days into a SLAM, when actually you are just pouring bottles of bleach into a body of water.

it looks good! if you get your CYA/chlorine ratio nailed...this shouldn't take long...good luck!

Per suggestions on this site, I added to bring CYA to 30 and then proceeded to slam to the corresponding FC level of 12ppm.

We apparently slightly overshot this morning with the 14.

CYA isn't quite responding as anticipated though, so adding a bit more.

be slow in adding your CYA, its hard to go backward. and keeping it low is conducive to an easier SLAM, having to meet lower chlorine numbers.

if you've had rain and not a real sunny day to take a measurement, wait until that day to get a good look in the view tube...good luck :goodjob:

Lunchtime FC is 11.5 ...so we aren't bleeding chlorine as we have been - although we weren't able to do a lunchtime check yesterday.

Been scrubbing and vacuuming.

Just pulled up the Polaris and realized it has significant algae. So that gets cleaned next.

Add any pool toys that have been in to the regimen as well.

Thanks. Fortunately nothing has been in....that we can see - there may be a rogue ball at the bottom of the pool.

He means toss any pool toys from last year into the highly chlorinated water to clean them, too. No point killing all the algae and then throwing a slimy beach ball in to reintroduce it.

CAPTAIN'S LOG: 3.5 days into SLAM (with a 5" of rain storms one afternoon/evening)

I forgot to take a pic this am before i scrubbed - so everything is agitated. I could actually see the cloud of particles as I scrubbed the bottom of the shallow end this morning - so that's new.

Picture wise though it is pretty painfully incremental.

Chlorine only fell from 12 to 10 overnight. So that's progress. We started by losing 6+ ppm overnight.
