Yukon OK
Pool Size
14000
Surface
Vinyl
Chlorine
Liquid Chlorine
Did my 1st test using the kit. I’ve been using test strips and making trips to the local pool store once a week for test. I was scared of getting a kit and going it myself (just seemed like a lot). Here are my findings

Free chlorine
1-2

Total chlorine
2-4

On the paper it says subtract tc-fc=cc
How do I know if I need to subtract 1-4 or 2-4 etc this is the confusing part for me

PH test
7.5

Alkalinity
10 drops to red 10x10=100ppm

Any recommendations from here? Per the paper everything is in range besides my chlorine. How do I adjust this correctly?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Your post sounds like mine some 11,000 posts and some number of years later. Trust the process and follow the slam process. It will clear your pool. Use liquid chlorine.

Proof—>How Clear is TFP Clear?
I dont doubt the slam process but I can yield amazing results double and triple shocking and following up with flocculant and vacuuming it out. And adjusting levels afterwards. What I see is the SLAM process can take weeks and you have to be on it every 2-3 hrs adding liquid chlorine.

Please explain or elaborate on how SLAM is superior to my chosen method please.

Slam cleans it up permanently as long as you maintain the correct chlorine/CYA ratio that TFP advises. What you’re doing just hides it for a little while. Until it comes back again…

If you return it and get one of the recommended kits, itd be a lot easier. The DPD chlorine test isnt very useful if you are using TFP as a guide.

Not always. Just as many go quickly, especially in the spring before it warms up.

Right now, any battle is harder with exponentially growing algae. Without a controlled process, reliable testing and anOvernight Chlorine Loss Test to prove the algae is gone, it's 'dump and pray'.

Sometimes prayers are answered, sometimes not, and 3 weeks from now it seems like a new problem.
