We have our pool being professionally installed in 2 weeks. We have a cartridge filter and a salt water generator. Pool water is being supplied via truck. What chemicals (salt, chlorine/bleach, ect.) do I need to start up? Thanks so much!

Welcome to TFP.

What type of pool? Plaster? Vinyl liner? Fiberglass?

Have you read ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry?

I believe I have now filled out my signature. In case I'm wrong:
Above ground, vinyl, 14,000 gallons, Buried 27", AquaPro 190 Sq ft cartridge 2 HP 2 Speed, Hayward AquaTrol HP SWG

Tests bought, but not used (as pool won't be installed for 2 weeks) Taylor K-2006C & K-1766

Pool water is being brought w/ truck.

I Have read ABC'S but am wondering how much of each I need on hand for first day/s. I am prepared to have salt, bleach/chlorine on first day (but not sure how much and when to add them. And am also wondering if I will need borax, muriatic acid, baking soda, cyanurac acid immediately? And if so, how much to be ready with?

Finally, I am located in Southern Maryland. I expect weather will be in low to high 80's the first days after install.

Thanks so much for your time!

You download PoolMath? Learn to calculate your quantities using it.

You want to add 60 ppm of CYA/stabilizer and 3000 ppm of salt. Add 2/3 of what you calculate and let the water circulate for 48 hours and test your levels. Then sneak up on your target with smaller doses since if you overshoot you can only lower by draining the pool.

Get a few gallons of 10% liquid chlorine to use until you get the SWG generating.

Get a gallon or two of muriatic acid.

You don’t need borax.

Use your K-2006C to test the pH, TA, CH of your fill water and let’s see what you start with.
