18 x 33 x 56" Semi-In Ground NJ

Getting everything at 1 place is certainly simpler. If you can afford it go for it.
The calimer & circupool vsp pumps are cousins - w/circupool you are paying for the warranty. Calimar/Circupool/BD/Blue Torrent Pump - Further Reading
Getting a rebate is nice be sure to figure it in the overall cost(check the dates as some places are getting rid of rebates/they are expiring)
Definitely skip the prefilter. That $ is better spent elsewhere.
You’ll have to determine your risk tolerance on the warranty (dealing with dsp/circupool vs various manufacturers & third parties)
Fair enough, like you mentioned previously you could get 2 of the Calimer for the cost of 1 Circupool pumps if it did 💩 the bed, and is still $600 cheaper with the 3 year extended warranty. Just want to read into the rebates/warranties on both more and will do that this weekend. I do think i have my choices narrowed down though. Pre filter is in them but subtracted as well and will take into consideration it really isn't needed with that huge filter. Heck the extra money from that I can get that extra skimmer and return jet, and some of the extra plumbing lol

Speaking of draining- you want to plumb a way to drain water if you get a cart as they don’t include an mpv like a sand filter. One can be added & some just have a spigot.
In all reality an MPV could just be replaced with a tee and 2 ball valves would you agree? Seeing as they are $150-200 I could easily make that mod for $20

Page 3 BTW 😂😂😂

3 way diverters are in the $50 range these days from Jandy / Pentair / Hayward and are worth every last penny because they are rebuildable. The irony is they usually last a generation and don't need the rebuilding that cheap ball valves do, which can't be rebuilt. It's a PITA to have to replumb those every few years. Here's mine on my carts, which was a special request as it's not customary.

Yes- on an above ground pool this easy. Just something to think about in advance. You wouldn’t believe how many posts we see where there’s no plumbed way to drain water & the op doesn’t own a submersible pump but the flood is happening. Many people assume this is a built in feature of all pools but it is not.

I did not know about the 3 way valves, being rebuildable it a great plus!
Here's one of the kits. Click link

unless it freezes, the valve body would probably survive an apocalypse, and be ready for parts. The parts would 50/50 survive. They're pretty robust.

I live in the same general area you do (Northern NJ, close enough)

These are all my opinions based on having a slightly smaller ABG (17,000 gal) and a very old and unused Masters Degree in Civil Engineering with a sub concentration in Earthworks

1. If you have sandy soil then that should be fine for backfill around a pool that is designed to be semi-inground
2. The base of the pool needs to be on undisturbed ground. Not fill, even if it is "sprayed with a hose and packed real good"
3. Talking about base, I myself recommend a pad. I had sand, and then switched to a pad. Sand gets divots in it from peoples heels, and then the robot vac rides over them and leaves Crud behind. Vermiculite may work as well, but I have no personal experience with it.
4. In my opinion, wall foam is a waste. I didn't have it, then I added it, and when bought a new pool, I did not have it put in. It costs extra, not just because of the material costs, but it is also a PIA to install nicely. It also really made almost no difference to the pool.
5. Foam COVE on the other hand is awesome, both from an ease installation aspect, and from how it makes your pool look and how stable it is. I highly recommend foam cove.
6. I have a Hayward EC-50 Salt Cell and a 1 HP pump on my 17,000 ABG and it does just fine. However my pool is in optimal conditions. I don't get a lot of trash etc in it, and my when I was using beach, my pool consumed about a quart of 8% a day. I think outside of ideal conditions or slightly larger (such as yours in) a bigger pump and salt cell is in order
7. I am a fan of DE filters myself. They do the best job of filtration. They are also more work to maintain. But here is the kicker. Where you are I live, we are shutting down our pools for 8ish months out of the year. I close my pool in September. When I do so, I pull my filter, pump, etc. I break down the entire filter, clean, inspect, repair, and lube it. It then goes into the shed for storage. When I open in May, I install the filter, charge it with DE and away I go. Aside from bumping the filter now and then, I get along with the same charge of DE all summer. No need to backwash, no need to change DE or clean the fingers. Now, again, my pool is pretty clean to begin with. But the benefits of a cartridge (easy to take out and clean) don't really apply to me, and I don't want to leave a sand filter out in single digit temps all winter.
8. I would hard plumb things. It works a lot better. Make sure that any valves that are installed are good pool grade rebuildable valves. Not off the shelf ball valves from a big box store. Those will fail, and fail quickly. Good valves can be have fairly cheaply - these are the ones I use - Amazon.com They are rebuildable too, and are basically bomb proof.

For your side-work quote including excavation, Reach out to Alessio at MVA Contracting (8568733676) and let him know Dylan sent you. He did the excavation for my in ground pool, did a fantastic job, and was very reasonable pricing. It's been a few years, so he might be more interested in concrete work at this point, but it's probably worth a call anyway just to see.
Just wanted to say thank you for recommending MVA!!!!! I'll be doing the backfill (by hand with wheelbarrows 😅) but he gave me a more than fair price for the excavation and haul away for the project. Was kind of shocked at the price to be honest it wasn't too much more than what I was estimating it would cost me to rent a mini-ex and 8 yard truck and fuel for a week. 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Saturday night thoughts here lol, does anyone know where to find the warranty documentation for the Sharkline Oasis EAW pool? I emailed Niagara earlier this week asking for it and they just haven't sent it yet, just want to read it for myself prior to signing next week! Tried finding it online with no luck, not sure if it's a warranty that's carried through the dealer and that's why they don't list it online? Just trying to see the actual depth it can be buried, I'm seeing people go 24" and I've seen some at 36" just wanted to see what's allowed by wilbur/sharkline

I literally spend 2 hours trying to find that with no luck lmao.
You'll see from the time elapsed between posts, nothing says i didn't also. :ROFLMAO:

Nah just fooling. I got lucky 5 mins in and saw inyopools-something-something. They have hooked me up many of times so I dug further that direction.

Glad it worked out. Your initial quote for excavation of your semi-buried pool was more than what MVA charged me for a non-standard in ground pool excavation.

Depending on how much backfilling you have to do, it may be worth looking into renting a Dingo. They're the stand on/walk behind mini skid steers. Super easy (and fun if I'm being honest) to operate and it would make backfilling a breeze. I rented one from Y By in Woodbury when I did my pool, and I know Home Depot rents them as well.

Yup was already looking into that! Y-Buy is the place too, cheaper than 90% of the others and they do weekend rates. I will have to see about space though There may not be enough room around the pool to fit the dingo without risking it compacting the soil near the pool too much. Worst comes to worst it'll be a wheelbarrow job with some pizza and beer afterwards lol. Still young for now so that no biggie to me although I'd be lying if I said I never feel like 32 going on 62 some days 😂

Was reading the manual a bit for install and trying to find the warranty info. For backfill is sandy soil considered "clean, compacted, granular material"? Confirmed through the dealer that a salt system does not void warranty. Last thing is the extra skimmer and the extra return components, I'm thinking I'm just going to order 1 additional of the below components.

SKIMMER SLAT 54" (53 5/8") (Single) - 26341(5 5/8" x 5 7/8" hole)

RETURN SLAT 54" (53 5/8") (Single) - 26342 (2 1/2" hole)

Stopping by the pool store later this week to sign paperwork and pay the deposit! 😁

Welp, deposit has been paid with a date for install in May TBD!!!!!!
@Newdude would you be able to share a few pics of your electrical on the post in front of the equipment? Just looking at some different ideas. I have a few already but it looks like yours is all contained in the box?

Congrats!!!

I think he understood it just fine! 😂. Thanks for sharing I like how it's all contained in one box, that's one of those Intermatic control boxes I assume? Was looking some up over the weekend.

So equipment is picked out, we will be adding an additional skimmer and return to the pool since you need to buy the extra slats from Wilbar when you order the pool.

Next thing is padding, I know there is very mixed opinions on wall foam, foam cove, and floor padding.
Foam cove is foam cove so I'm not really worried where I'll get that. I'm more so looking at the different liner floor pads. Happy bottom, gorilla pad, rubber/foam mats?
