Hi guys,

Need some opinions/guidance on the appropriate SWG for an in-ground concrete/tiled spa (appx 1000 gallons). I’ve read the forums and spoken to several manufacturers. So far the Controlomatic SmarterSpa seems like the best unit overall.

However I have some issues. I cannot have a unit that drapes over the side or is visible. Found that I can get an inline kit ($30+$35) for the SmarterSpa to get around this, but now discovered it has no flow detection, thus needs a separate 24hr circulation pump for inline operation ($100-$150 or so). So total cost is now $400, plus an extra $200+, plus hassle of more equipment/setup.

So I’ve now had another look around and found this unit - The CircuPool SJ-15. Easily fitted inline, works with the existing VS pump, etc. However it’s obviously made for pools not spas (0.65lbs/day).

Any suggestions on whether I should go with the Circupool unit for ease of maintenance/fitting it in the plant room, or try and make a workaround to get the SmarterSpa installed and running?

Many thanks in advance!

Ken

I will tell you that TFP suggests a SWG that is double your "pool" size so there is that. As for the one to pick I agree the hanging over the edge is a no go due to safety reasons as I am guessing this will also be where the "treading pool" will be.
