New Pool Build in Austin (Feedback welcome)

Yes, the dig is a (high) fixed price. They knew going in it was mostly rock. While the price is fixed, the project timeline is not. I wasn’t able to get any firm completion date. As long as it’s done by Spring, I’ll be happy.

I hear you about the high priced dig! It was nerve wracking not knowing how far over they’d go [emoji32] Glad yours is fixed price. You will be done by spring. I’d say it will be perfect timing to have all the little things that you will end up doing yourself done by then too. Enjoy the dust, mud and general chaos!

6 days of digging, and my backyard is now level. Lot’s more digging left.

Well that is a great start! 6 days in the making though wow! Will they keep working tomorrow?

Kim:kim:

That’s a great question, I’m not sure. I think the next step is that they mark the perimeter with wood (they already dropped it off), then the dig more. We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

Nice Jim, you’ve almost caught up with me! Once you’re framed we are at the same spot. It’s looking good! Was the excavation nerve racking for you? It seemed if something was going to happen it was going to happen during excavation when all the equipment was going back and forth

It was ok. Our front yard (where they drive the excavator to meet the dump truck), is more messed up than we were expecting.

As far as what stage we are at, I guess I’m still a little confused. I think we just completed the “pre-excavation” stage. Our backyard is now level vs sloping up about 6 feet. It now still needs to be excavated 5 feet (4 foot shallow end plus room for the shell) on the section closest to our house, and 7 feet (6 feet of water) on the backside of our yard. Based on the amount of time it took for them to level it, I think we are still 1-2 weeks away from the end of excavation.

Anyone else have a similar experience?

Framing done, now more digging. Estimated 1-3 weeks of digging left.

What’s the TFP record number of days for excavation?

Do I get a trophy? He’s making progress, but probably won’t be done until mid next week.

So, it was 6 days to make my backyard level. Then a day off of digging so they could frame it. This is day 8 (14 if you count the leveling stage). So, total estimated digging is 13 days plus 6 to level!

Even when I’m not home, I swear I can still here the jackhammer!

Hey all, I haven’t posted in awhile. Gunite was completed 2 months ago. Due to poor planning by the PB, my concrete coping was just poured last week. I got some assurances that the rest of the project should progress more quickly. Tiling should start tomorrow.

One question....some concrete dripped into the skimmer boxes. I easily chipped a piece off, but it fell into the PVC pipe attached to the skimmer! I know, I should have just left it alone. Is it easy to flush that out before the equipment is hooked up? I don’t want any of the equipment to get damaged.

Here are the latest pictures.
