newbie need help with cover

Hello guys and girls my name is Anthony. I'm From Mass.
I have a pool a in-ground pool that needs a new cover. the pool came with the house when i got it last year. The current cover is in bad shape. it's an old
loop loc cover. when i opened the pool there were leaves and debris and algae in there. I would like to get a new solid cover with the drain mesh in the middle problem is my pool is kidney shaped and it's difficult for to determine the size.

please advice. I would go as far as shipping my old cover so that they can measure it.
local pool company wants almost 5 grand for a new cover and i feel like I'm getting ripped off.

I would call the manufacturer of the cover and ask them how you can best measure it. My thoughts are to take a picture of the cover, print it out and add the measurements on that. The pool company need to make money for doing the work so it will more than if you can do it on your own.
