My pool was nasty, I drained what I could (above ground, 4ft, 5000 gal)

there is anout 8 in of green gunk. Do i go ahead and refill now? Try to treat that bit? Or rent something to draw n it completely so I can scrub? Or just cry and hire someone ?

First you want to manually remove as much as you can of the solid junk in the pool. You can do it lower or filled, what ever is easiest.

You then need to follow: Pool School - SLAM - Shock Level And Maintain

To do this you need a good test kit such as the TF1-100 from TFTestkits.net or the Taylor K-2006 "C" version.
