FC/pH Relationship

I'm currently in the process of lowering my CYA (110ppm) due to the use of pucks. I plan to drain water this weekend and refill. Because the CYA is at 110ppm, I have kept my FC at 10.5 - 14.5 in an attempt to make the FC effective against algae. My question is, does having a high FC level give a false reading to my pH (8.0), acid demand called for 3 drops to get to 7.6. I don't want to add MA if the pH is reading false? My overall thought was to add nothing to the pool until the CYA is 60 or lower and then balance from that point. Thoughts? Thank you.

Yes your PH testing is not reliable above FC of 10ppm. Wait until your FC drops below 9 and then test your PH. If you are going to drain then wait until you finish your refill and test.
