Howdy, folks. After 4 years with my 15’ by 48” Intex, we sprung a leak! (I’m in Florida, so pool stays up year round.) I decided to replace with a 16’ by 48”. Unlike the first one, this pool comes with two lines that go to the pump.

So, because I want to install a thru wall skimmer, I’m wondering - do I need both lines to the pump, or just one, since the skimmer will be one route to the pump. Also, where is the best place for the skimmer?

Thank you!

The best place for the skimmer is downwind so that the wind will help push the debris into the skimmer.
The reason for the two hoses is an entrapment safety feature so that somebody doesn’t get stuck. If you install a true skimmer then you really don’t need the second suction line. It can be plugged or used as a second return.
