    VS Pump Quetions

On a variable speed pump, in what situations would I want to use the slower speed and higher speed? Perhaps when solar is circulating? The panels are 100' away from the pump. The outlet options are:

    1. 2 "spa jets". There's no spa, just a couple jets with air control on a lounge type step.
    2. In floor cleaning system
    3. Solar - 100' distance
    4. 2 standard wall returns
Also, it it normal for the pump to have to prime every time it starts up? Take about 30 seconds for it to start pumping. There's no check valve on the suction side.
    Thank you,

One of the main advantages of having a VS pump is that you can adjust the speed to fit the situation...

So for everyone of your options you would adjust the rpm so that it works the way you want. For example on your jets.. you would set the speed so that the Jets looked the way you wanted.

For your In-floor system, you will need to adjust the rpm so that it functions properly.. etc.

Play with it, you can't hurt anything.

Not sure what specific pump you have, but a lot of them allow you to adjust the prime cycle time. Most VS pumps automatically go into a prime cycle at start up.. I don't believe that having a check valve will make any difference.

You might want to fill out your signature, so that we do not have to guess about what type of pool or equipment you have. It just helps us help you.

    Thanks for posting,

Solar needs something around 40 gpm to be most effective, give or take depending on the panel and my memory
