My TA (Total Alkalinity) won't go down.

As of last evening and 8 application of MA my TA was 70 and the pH 7.2! Still aerating to raise the pH. :goodjob:

You can usually trust a pilot to do things carefully and follow instructions when it matters!

However, yesterday the owner was not there and his part time person tested the water for us. Suddenly :grrrr: we needed an endless amount of products to correct this problem…that problem…and the potential for…??????

I suspect that a lot of pool store employees get their education from reading the labels of the products they sell.... "eliminates need to clean your filter", "dissolves scale and restores pH", "allows you to run your pump 50% less time saving you money", "you won't have to brush", "stabelizes pH and minimizes chlorine need"

Thanks Anona...,
Just wanted to follow up and report... We added Borax and muriatic acid per the instructions in Waterbear's original post http://www.troublefreepool.com/so-you-want-to-add-borates-to-your-pool-why-and-how-t4921-100.html and used Jason's Pool Calculator, http://www.poolcalculator.com/ to figure the numbers.

Everything went well and no problems. My TA is 70-75 and the pH is just a tad under 7.8. It's only been 2.5 hours and the water does have a different look to it. Thanks again to everyone for your help!

Travis :)
