Small Pool Build - Brisbane, Australia [emoji1037]

Wow - It does look big...!

Kids and no doubt some adults will love it.

Glad to see that the PH probe was diagnosed as faulty - certainly explains all the dramas you had with it.

It’s a monstrosity / eyesore [emoji31]

Yes very happy that the probe was diagnosed as faulty. Thought I was loosing my mind with all the problems it was causing.

It's huge! That looks so fun!

I knew it would be.

So at least you were prepared and the good parts are that 1) your boys will LOVE it and 2) you can remove it in the future. I say win-win!

After 2.5 days of not been able to access the pool due to the concrete resurfacing I pulled back the cover to beautifully clear water! Of course there was a bit of an issue with the resurfacing but overall it looks great. The contractor also didn’t seem phased when I sent him a photo this morning and seems an easy enough fix. He also still needs to do a little step for us in front of the pool gate so it’s easier for me to get my arm up and over to reach the latch. He’s sick today so might be a while until I see him but all his $ equipment is here so he will be back. Oh and SR Smith coming out on Monday to look at the slide. It would be nice if one job went as it should! Never mind I have learnt that things get done one way or another.

Did a full set of tests tonight. It’s been a little while since I’ve tested anything other than fc and ph which get done several times a week and are pretty stable.

Levels are starting to drop down from where they were at start up which I’ve been waiting for. Ch ta cya and salt have dropped. Salt is finally a respectable level after being 6,400 ish. Cya down to 70 from 80. Thinking of leaving this for just a little while longer before bumping back to 80 since we are in winter and pool is mostly covered. Fc loss is not an issue atm.

Have been playing around with numbers in pool maths to see how to get my csi back to just slightly negative where it use to be (when my ta was about 140 and ch 225 ish). I am thinking of letting my ta continue to drift down and increase ch to 350. Thoughts? By doing this my numbers will be more in line with TFP protocol. Just wanted to run this by those with more experience before I go adding calcium.

Your numbers are looking great...!

Obviously it is settling in - no more wild swings.

Hopefully your slide saga goes well next week.

Thanks. It’s definitely settled down. Having a functioning ph probe has helped immensely. Do you think I should bring the ch up as planned?

Any news on your pavers or are they still chipping them off a cliff somewhere in the middle of whoop whoop? Good thing they are amazing and worth the wait.

I'm running my CH up at 250 to 300 at the moment.

If your tap water is similar to mine (ch=100) - Then don't be afraid to move the pool water up in CH as it will never increase unless you add calcium manually.

Being a concrete pool you probably want to run it higher.

Nothing yet - Supplier told me possibly late July or early August....

Still need my rear fence to be done as well - Been raining a fair amount so my builder has not been too keen to start on the fence as yet - Maybe next week or the week after he reckons.

Thanks. Might aim for 300 to start with. Want to go slowly. Yes from memory fill ch is about the 100 mark. I guess it is very different being a concrete pool as ch isn’t really a concern for you.

It’s late July! They shouldn’t be too far away hopefully. Back fence will make a huge difference. I love seeing all those extra things done to see it finally come together as a finished product. So dry here with no rain in sight. Would happily take a little off your hands at this time of year.

Glad to hear you're getting all the finishing touches done!

Looks like you're getting a lot of dilution with CH dropping from 225 to 175, so yep, go ahead and raise it. I wouldn't go past 250/300 myself, but 350 will be fine if you get ongoing dilution exceeding evaporation/top-up.

Will double check level before adding. Don’t want to overdo it so happy to go to 250 to start with. It had been a while since I checked ch as I had been dealing with the other levels.

Due to rain, back-washing etc.. I have been finding that I have been needing to add Calcium Chloride on a number of occasions to keep it up.

Don't think we will ever have issues with high CH mainly due to our tap/rain water being low in CH.

Measured mine the other week and it was up at 300 but this week it is back down to 200 due to rain dilution (incl. Backwash) during the week.

Thanks Costas. It’s good to know it’s not dropping at an abnormal rate. I haven’t added any yet at all so have been expecting it. The problem I have is raising it to 250-300 is fine for now as far as csi is concerned but once my ta drops to about 80 where I will leave it the csi won’t be great. After playing with numbers it looks like my ch needs to be around 350 with a ta of 80 to have a somewhat decent csi. Will bring it to 300 now and when ta drops down to 80 will bring it to 350. Well that’s my current plan anyway. This will have me in TFP range for al levels and a decent csi. Any input though is welcome.

Oh and kids have not long got out of the pool! 26* here today. Eldest son’s 12th birthday yesterday with his party today. We have friends staying the night who have a son the same age. All three boys should sleep well. For any LEGO nerds he finally got the Death Star for his birthday after 6 years of asking.

I am so sorry to hear you are going through similar. It is devastating. I hope your dog has a better outcome. Are they old?

Glad you have skimmer socks! Waiting for the hairnets to arrive so I can give them a go.

Sorry for taking so long to reply we had visit with specialist Yesterday. Our 10 year old German Shepard has neurological issues with his hind legs, we're going to do some imaging and see what can be done from here but it's not orthopedic - we'll know soon what we're dealing with. I'm so sorry for what you went through I've been there as well :(

Skimmer socks (or thereabouts!) are amazing - they catch so much (the dog hair is crazy!!) before the filter no wonder the PB never mentioned them!
