Replacing Pool Pump Motor

I have a WhisperFlo pump with a motor that needs replacing. Has anyone done this themselves? How difficult is it to do?

I have skimmed some videos and it seems not straightforward as it involves dealing with many parts.

I think we "cheated" in that we got the same motor to replace the old one with so.............it can be done DIY just make sure to use care for the electric part of it!

I plan to get the same exact motor. I believe I have to get the GO-KIT32 as well. But I worry about taking all the non-motor parts from the old motor and then reassembling it.

Did you find it straightforward or time consuming and difficult?

EASY! It was not even a whole beer's worth of work!

The tricky part is the impeller locking screw. It is reverse threaded. That pesky screw stops people dead in their tracks who are unaware.

Be sure to get a new pump gasket kit for reassembly. Any o-ring you remove should be replaced. Yep on the reversed thread impeller screw!

A touch of silicone grease to hold those new o-rings in place during assembly is very helpful.
