So I just figured out that plan A won't work, I was going to set my DE filter to backwash and leave the pump running to drain the pool, with a hose on the skimmer port into the deep end. Obviously his would be very bad for the grids I jut realized ...

Is there a way to do it with the pump into the drain on the filter or do I just need to get a sump pump and hose to my house drain line?

Do you have the waste option on your backwash valve?
Can you isolate the suction to just the floor?

If the answer to either is no, then you would be better off renting or buying a sump pump.

No to both, the floor drain is plumbed to the skimmer, and the backwash valve is the T type that is just up or down
