Basically, my filter sand is so calcified that it is a concrete block that is impossible to get out of the filter. Is there a way to make it scoop-able again so that I can get this useless abused sand out of my filter and replace it? Would soaking it in muriatic acid break it up enough to remove?
Back story (yes, feel free to judge):
I bought a house with a pool and became a pool owner for the first time. I immediately had it replastered and converted to a salt system in the winter. The company that did the renovations said they would do all the start-up and educate me on how to take care of everything. After plastering and installing everything, they put the cover on and said it was all fine until we were ready to open the pool when it warmed up... no mention of brushing and getting the chemistry right. When we took the cover off a few months later, the pool was coated in thick scale. They came back and acid washed the pool or at least most of it as I had to spend hours scrubbing the new tile. Basically lots of back and fourth happened and they became less and less helpful. Then I spent months trying to trouble shoot a cloudy pool. Now all of my chemistry is on point, including getting the calcium down, but I have a concrete block inside of my new sand filter and it is obviously not functioning. Help!
