WE just opened our pool after converting to salt last week. Our Intellichlor says Pool Output: 65%, Spa: 3%, Salt Level: 2850. I tested FC and it's 11!

What did we do wrong (we haven't done anything since they were here 2 days ago and added more salt) & how do we fix it?

Can't say that you did anything "wrong" per se or that 11 is completely off the charts. What are your full test results? CYA? Sounds like you just need to adjust your production levels to "dial in" the output needed for your pool and pump run time. For example, min runs well at 27% whereas others keep it at 80%

Luric,

Saltwater Chlorine Generators (SWCG) produce chlorine based upon two things. One, the percentage of output that you set, and two, the amount of time the pump is run..

The amount of chlorine produced by setting the SWCG at 100% and running the pump for one hour, is the same as setting the SWCG at 10% and running the pump for 10 hours.

The SWCG itself is dumb as dirt. It has no clue what the FC of your pool water is. All it knows, based upon the % you set, is how long to stay on each hour.

You are the SWCG's brain.. You have to test the FC in your pool and then "tell" the SWCG to stay on longer and make more chlorine, or to stay off longer and produce less chlorine.

Please let me know if this does not make sense...

Thanks,

Jim R.
