Over at Leslie's pool yesterday, I saw a bottle labeled cyanuric acid reducer. Anyone have any experience with this? Does it reduce cyanuric acid or is it a money grabber?
The only reasonably affordable way to reduce CYA is to drain water out of the pool and refill it. This same problem is what brought me to TFP last year - I ended up draining and refilling - it was worth it!
Drain your water. The only way to get CYA out of your pool.
It can be done! I had a CYA level of around 300 when we moved in our house. The previous owner used at least 12 chlorine tablets in floaters at all times.
Thanks. I don't have too much CYA in my water (I'm running around 50), but a co-worker does. I myself was wondering about it because I was going on a 2 week vacation and was wondering if I could use tablets and have a 'quick and easy' way to get the CYA down if it got too high. Looks like this is a money grab.
