My Haywood VSR Pump is tripping the gf but only intermittently. It's down this a dozen times in the last two months since the pump was replaced.. Haywood said pump should be wired directly to gf and not go through relay. Thoughts?

What else is being powered by the GFCI circuit breaker other than the pump?
Should be nothing but the pump itself. If you are using that same CB to power other things, it can cause intermittent trips.
Hayward is correct, the pump should be hard-wired to 220 VAC, it should not be controlled by a relay.

VS pumps can cause nuisance tripping with some gfci breakers. Pentair has two breakers that are designed to work with VS pumps.
