Normal for pump to feel warm/hot?

PB told me to leave pump running 24/7. I have for the last week. Is it normal for the pump itself to feel warm/hot when it is run constantly?

Yes. Almost too hot to touch is normal.

What was his reasoning for 24/7?

Is it a 2 speed pump?

I have a two HP pump and I run it 12 hours during the day light hours...due to solar panels...The back part the motor part does get hot...but not like too hot to touch...I would say it will get hot though...nothing to worry about...If it is a two speed you can run it on low 24/7...I know plenty people do. However, with my pump...I only run 12 on 12 off so it can have a break.
