New pool salt question

Just filled today 5/25/16 and have basic pump on our Intex 16' x 48" above ground pool. We have the saltwater pump/filter coming Saturday, what should I do til then? Add the salt now and circulate with regular pump only?

Add chlorine and CYA.

Now's the time to get everything balanced and ready using bleach as the chlorine source. It's enough trouble trying to figure everything out without adding salt and setting the SWG% and all that, so take it in steps.

Is it safe to assume there's children in the house? If so, hold Diamond Day. Let the kids get in the pool and pour the salt in and let them swim through it and scoop it up and just do whatever kids do. They'll have a blast and get that salt dissolved and well-mixed for you.

At some point after the salt is all dissolved you make the pump/SWG switchover and turn the thing on and that's the end of the bleach, hopefully.

I hope you've had time to read the ABCs of Pool Water Chemistry and some of the chemistry topics so you know about CYA and pH and how to use poolmath and all that.
