Iodine vs Chlorine

Very interesting indeed. I was very surprised to see that the study was from 1963, yet 52 years later chlorine is still the choice of pool sanitizer.

Maybe the iodine is not cost-effective (I have no idea how much a gallon of iodine costs), nor how friendly it would be to the environment as runoff water.

as per this thread chemgeek demonstrates that iodine disinfection byproducts are far more toxic than chlorine or bromine

And many people are highly allergic to Iodine.

There are different kinds of iodine.. iodine is a required nutrient for every cell in our bodies.
