I currently see only two options for boric acid down under.
The first one, and the only one using an official pool product, but quite pricey is Bioguard's Optimiser:
bioguard.com.au
Note that the Optimiser sold by Bioguard in Australia is 100% boric acid, which is different to the Optimizer (note the z) in the US, which is a mixture of different borates.
The other option is to go through these guys:
www.boricacid.net.au
Be aware, this is sold as an insecticide, but is 100% boric acid (sold as "technical grade" with 99.5% purity) without deliberate additives, as far as I know. I can't really recommend that, up to you if you want to give this a shot.
[Edit]
They sell their boric acid as a "versatile household product", with the main application as an insecticide, but they also advertise it to be used as a hand washing detergent and a washing powder additive.
[/Edit]
I have used both. Both are fine powders, rather than granules that are easier to add to a pool, and I personally don't see a point in paying the adder for a dedicated pool product, but you have to decide for yourself.
There may be options in farm supply shops.

Choose from our different sizes We only package the fine powder variety of boric acid. This removes the problem of large, hard pieces which are extremely difficult to work with. These are the different sizes of our regular grind variety which offer great value for money. About Boric Acid What is...
