I have a sand filter for an above ground pool. My question is what is the normal range for PSI when it is filtering? mine seems to be staying around 1PSI...I thought it use to be around 5 PSI...

There really is no normal. The pressure all depends on the plumbing, equipment, location, etc.. If it used to run 5 psig and now it runs 1 psig and nothing else has changed you may have a bad gauge. It also could be that your pump impeller is partially clogged and not moving the same amount of water that it used to.

1. Pump is not pumping.
2. your filter is on Bypass (recirculate) or stuck in it despite the handle position.
3. Bad gauge. Obvious if you have good jet, filtering and the gauge is low.
Do yu have the water jet out of your return?
