Found - intex "adapter"

I went to the local pool store today and found Intex 1 1/4" non-threaded adapters which should work perfectly for hooking up to a larger, better pump and sand filter

Shopping local has its advantages, everyone there was great - I'm hoping this'll help anyone else looking to move away from Intex's proprietary sizing.
