This backyard/pool project has taken 3 years. Filled her up about 30 days ago. I've been going to the local Leslies and doing tests to keep the levels balanced up to this point. Upon reviewing all the options to keep her clean and clear easily... most were expensive or required costly subscriptions. Ordered the chemical testing set recommended here and am banking on the pool nerd community to help figure out what the heck I'm doing.

If there is an interest - I'll update pics to this thread of the project as it progresses.

I haven't asked the group, but I'm going to just go out on a limb here and speak for them that there is TOTALLY an interest.

We have a thing for pics. And projects. And dogs.

Good job on ordering a good test kit. It's crucial for the community ( ) to give you the correct advice.

Please share pics. The build looks really cool from the one pic I can see!

I’ve got some learning to do. Did some testing today. Added bleach and muriatic as per the recommendation of the app. See test results below. Advise welcomed.

Getting ready to fire up the SWG next week so I will do daily testing to get levels perfect prior. What is ideal salt level for SWG?

Welcome to TFP!

Start a new thread in "Testing and Balancing Your Water" for testing and balancing your water.

Update your signature with pool, pool equipment (including manufacturers and model numbers) and test kit info.
Presently it's overly sparse.

Add enough liquid chlorine to get up to 4-5 for your CYA of 20.
Use the FC/CYA Levels and dose for the high side of the target range.
Add CYA via the sock method to get CYA up to 40 for now.

Where in Utah? There are major temperarure differences throughout the state.

Post a full test of current test results to PoolMath as you are already sharing your PoolMath logs.

Also, what is the pH, TA and CH of your fill water?

I wouldn't raise the CYA past 30 as the FC is in the flirting danger category. Before you take the CYA any higher I'd say an OCLT is in order to make sure there isn't any algae growing unnoticed eventhough the water may look perfectly clear.
