1 week down on new plaster pool, will be swg in 3 weeks, questions

M,

Looks like you have passed you OCLT with only a .5 ppm loss. So for my point of view you are ready to fire up your SWCG when your time limit is up..

I believe that your .5 CC reading is just a testing error. If you don't do the CC test "immediately" after the FC testing, the water will turn pink on its own. And as long as it is .5 or less you are still good.

When is your 30 day salt-free time limit up?

Keep in mind that you need to add the salt with your SWCG OFF... Run the pump 24/7 for 24 hours and then turn the SWCG on..

Once your SWCG is working, you can start increasing your CYA to get it up to 70 or 80..

Thanks for posting,

Jim R.

Perfect, that's exactly how you do the CC test and the result was .5. :)

So, since you can't yet fire up the SWG, for now use liquid chlorine or bleach to bring your pool up to 6 FC by testing and adding once a day. The chart to figure out your chlorine based on your CYA measurement is here:
Pool School - Chlorine / CYA Chart

You're not running the SWG yet, so you want to treat your pool like a "regular" chlorine pool. Whatever you do, do not let it drop below 2 FC.
